State Welcome
WASHINGTON- In the morning, U.S. President Barack Obama and the U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama will welcome President Lee Myung-bak and First Lady Kim Yoon-ok of the Republic of Korea to the White House. The Vice President Joe Biden will also attend.
President Obama and the U.S. First Lady may welcome President Myung-bak and the First Lady of the Republic of Korea to the White House when they arrive at the South Portico of the White House. The welcome ceremony will take place on the White House South Lawn, or the State Floor of the White House if inclement weather requires this event to be moved inside.
In the morning, President Obama will hold a bilateral meeting with President Lee in the White House Oval Office. Vice President Biden will also attend. Later, President Obama will hold an expanded bilateral meeting with the President of Korea and the Official U.S. and Official Korean Delegations in the Cabinet Room of the White House.
In the rain, hundreds of excited children, youth and young adults have gathered for a glance and perhaps hand shake with the Presidents. Black umbrellas were available for the Korean delegation during the very wet welcoming ceremony.
In the afternoon, President Obama will hold a joint press conference with President Lee in the White House.
Also in the evening at the White House, at 4:30PM tomorrow, following a meeting with Chief of Staff Bill Daley, Governor O’Malley of Maryland, Governor Gregoire of Washington and Governor Dayton of Minnesota. The gentlemen will be available at the White House stakeout location to discuss the importance of passing the American Jobs Act. The goal is to immediately put more money in the pockets of working Americans and place workers back on jobs.
Among American politics, there are small gains for the U.S. President in his re-election campaign. The U.S. President's jobs rating and re-elect poll numbers have converged.
As it continued to rain, the White House is trying not to take the welcome ceremony inside. The visit marks a very important time in the history of the two nations. The alliance between the United States and Korean is creating jobs for the two dynamic economies.
President Lee cleaned streets to earn a living through school. He drank water to help him fight hunger.In the evening, the U.S. President and the U.S. First Lady will welcome President Lee and First Lady Kim at the White House North Portico. President Obama and the First Lady will then take the official photo with President Lee and First Lady Kim on the White House Grand Staircase.
Later, President Obama and the U.S. First Lady will host a State Dinner in honor of President Lee. The Vice President and Dr. Biden will also attend. President Obama and President Lee will each give a toast. The toast remarks during the dinner will follow the dinner. President Obama and the First Lady will attend the State Dinner reception with President Lee in the White House State Dining Room.
