WASHINGTON, DC- As a reluctant warrior President Barack Obama spoke to the acts of the international coalition forces acting to defend the citizens of Libya with 110 Tomahawk cruise missiles. One British and 3 American subs and one U.S. Navy ship launched Operation Odyssey Military action.
Libyan, Muʿammar al-Qaḏḏāfī did not preserve civilian lives, despite his rhetoric to institute a cease-fire yesterday. The citizens of Libyan have continued to suffer through the brutality and die by way of the hands of the Libyan government.

The U.S. will contribute unique assets, but will not contribute ground troops to protect the  civilian populous of Libya.

At the present time, a U.S. Commander is leading Operation Odyssey, but will transition to a coalition led mission. The military action to defend civilians is in the first phase of a multi-phase operation.

The Coalition is targeting Libyan Air Defense system facilities. Libyan air defense systems are said to be severely disabled.

In contrast, a plane of the Libyan anti-Qaddafi rebels was shot down by anti-Qaddafi Libyan forces. Teams of international journalist have been detained by the Libyan government led by Qaddafi. And a pharmacy in Benghazi, Libya was destroyed by Qaddafi's military tanks.

Qaddafi said, the Western "aggression" strengthens the Libyan resolve. "I will open stores of all arms to defend Libya," Qaddafi said.
