EGYPT- The high military counsel of Egypt has stated that it would protect the people of Egypt. Faced with that reality, it is rumor that Egyptian President Mubarak has decided to formally step-down as the leader of Egypt.
This decision came at a time when the people of Egypt had decided on the form of governance that Egypt should take. The Egyptian community has grown tired of the unchecked governance of President Mubarak. Doctors, lawyers, actors, elderly, children gathered to support the birthing of Egypt's future. But nothing was certain.
Fortunately, so far, the Egyptian military has not forced itself on the people of Egypt. What remains unclear is what will be the next step for the nation-state of Egypt, with its great history.
By the time Marine One touched down and President Barack Obama appeared wearing an overcoat, there was speculation that President Mubarak would not step-down. Reports out of Egypt indicated that an Egyptian official said President Mubarak would not resign.None the less, President Obama said "I just want to say that we are following today’s events in Egypt very closely. And we’ll have more to say as this plays out. But what is absolutely clear is that we are witnessing history unfold. It’s a moment of transformation that’s taking place because the people of Egypt are calling for change. And they’ve turned out in extraordinary numbers representing all ages and all walks of life, but it’s young people who’ve been at the forefront -- a new generation, your generation, who want their voices to be heard. And so going forward, we want those young people and we want all Egyptians to know America will continue to do everything that we can to support an orderly and genuine transition to democracy in Egypt."
President Mubarak's response to the global diplomats was clear, he was not leaving. Mubarak declared his promise to die within the territory of Egypt.
President Mubarak said he has started a national dialogue, but journalist are not allowed to operate freely. President Mubarak said the demands of the protesters are legitimate and just, but will not step-down to their demands. President Mubarak said he would continue to monitor the situation. But he does not seem to comprehend to the point of resigning, stepping down or leaving Egypt.
Some Egyptian protesters want billions of dollars returned to Egypt out of President Mubarak's banking accounts. Others want his immediate and irreversible exit from Egypt. Yet, the response of the Egyptian protesters was controlled rage.President Barack Obama returned to Washington, DC with staff members Jarrett, Sutphen, Mastromonaco, and Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, who was making his final flight as press secretary.
America does not want to pre-judge anything happening in Egypt at this time, because it is a very fluid situation in Egypt.
