“President Obama Signs Critical Legislation to Prevent Child Abuse and Domestic Violence”
Written and Posted by Karen Ann Carr____________________________________________________________________________
WASHINGTON, DC- President Barck Obama signed the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA), S.3817, following years of work to correct the wrongs across the nation.
It comes at a time when hundreds of men appeared on camera with Ophra Winfrey to openly revealed that they had lived through multiple acts of unspeakable violence and abuse in their homes and schools growing up. The patterns of violence had shaped the character of their emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual beings.
"My body betrayed me," one person shared.
According to the White House, "in 2008, 772,000 children were victims of abuse and neglect; and nearly 2,000 of those children died." A question to be answered is how many children are un-reported victims of neglect and abuse in the United States of America. Unfortunately, many victims of abuse and neglect grow to be adults after years of enduring domestic violence.
At these times of intensified stresses and strains, it is imperative that humans beings treat each other honorably and respectfully.

QUESTION:
First of all, it appears as though you have the votes to ratify START, and I was wondering -- it didn't necessarily appear that way days, if not weeks ago -- weeks if not days ago. What made the difference?
RESPONSE:
"I think in all honesty I think people have had an opportunity to focus on what’s in the treaty. I think they’ve had an opportunity to focus on those that are supporting the treaty and listen to Chairman Mullen, Secretary Gates, Jim Baker, George Shultz, Henry Kissinger, and others make I think a very compelling case, along with the President and the Vice President, for why this enhances our security; why it does nothing to impact or inhibit our ability to defend ourselves in any way, as Senator Isakson said in a statement released just a few moments ago, announcing his support for ratification of this treaty.
I think people understand that it is -- our reductions in these are legacies of many Presidents, including former President Ronald Reagan. And it makes our world safer. It provides, as we've talked about in here, an inspection regime with the Russians. It doesn’t inhibit our ability to protect ourselves using missile defense and promotes our security and stability in the world."
SECRETARY ROBERT GIBBS

"U.S. Sponsored Amendment is used to Ensure Gays and Lesbians Are Covered By UN Resolution on Extrajudicial Execution"
Posted by Karen Ann Carr
________________________________________________________________________________
The Obama administration has acted to protect gays and lesbians from state-sponsored discrimination by way of a U.S. sponsored United Nations amendment.
This comes on the heels of action taken by the Obama administration to encourage the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives to repeel the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" legislation.
White House Secretary Robert Gibbs siad, "President Obama applauds those countries that supported the amendment offered by the United States to ensure that “sexual orientation” remains covered by the United Nations resolution on extrajudicial, summary, and arbitrary execution. Killing people because of their sexual orientation cannot be rationalized by diverse religious values or varying regional perspectives. Killing people because they are gay is not culturally defensible – it is criminal.
While today’s adoption of an inclusive resolution is important, so too are the conversations that have now begun in capitals around the world about inclusion, equality, and discrimination. Protecting gays and lesbians from state-sponsored discrimination is not a special right, it is a human right. Today’s vote in the United Nations marks an important moment in the struggle for civil and human rights. The time has come for all nations to redouble our efforts to end discrimination and violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people."
This is another act in a series of strategic moves by President Obama to protect and support the behavior of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

U.S. Citizen Travel to North Korea
Taken Question
Office of the Spokesman
Washington, DC
December 21, 2010
QUESTION:
Does the United States put any restrictions on U.S. citizens traveling to North Korea?
ANSWER:
"While the United States government does not restrict travel to North Korea, the Department of State warns U.S. citizens against entering North Korea without first having received a explicit official permission and an entry visa from the Government of North Korea (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea). Travel by U.S. citizens to North Korea is not routine, and U.S. citizens crossing into North Korea without proper documentation have been subject to arrest and long-term detention. The United States does not maintain diplomatic or consular relations with North Korea."
